Context
Srishti Interim is a month-long intensive course in which third year bachelor students choose an emerging area of inquiry and present their findings as public installations at metro stations across Bangalore, India.
My project, "Artificial Intelligence and Future Micro Histories", was led by Daniel Saul of the RCA, London. It centred on a single question: how does artificial intelligence already intersect
with daily life and where might its influence lead?
The Installation
Systemira was installed across a ticket booth window for two days. The setup was deliberately minimal consisting of a laptop, a webcam, and a projector, but the effect was immediate.
Commuters waiting for trains were confronted with a live face recognition scanner that could accept or reject them, set against the speculative logic of a 2050 AI surveillance state. The installation asked no complex questions and simply put people in the position of being assessed, which ignited strong curiosity for discussion.
